Betul. Police on Monday arrested VK Ojha, father of former cricketer Naman Ojha, in connection with the embezzlement of about Rs 1.25 crore in Bank of Maharashtra’s Jaulkheda branch in the year 2013. Ojha was booked under sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120B, 34 and sections 65,66 of the IT Act. Other accused in the embezzlement case were arrested by the police earlier. Ojha was on the run for a long time. SDOP Multai Namrata Sondhia said that the accused Vinay Ojha, who is absconding in the embezzlement case, has been arrested. He is the father of cricketer Naman Ojha.
In the year 2013, bank manager Abhishek Ratnam posted in Bank of Maharashtra branch Jaulkheda had hatched a conspiracy to embezzlement. After his transfer, Ojha and others, together on Sunday, June 2, 2013, opened 34 fake accounts and transferred KCC loans on them and withdrawn about 1.25 crore rupees. When this embezzlement happened, Vinay Ojha was posted as branch manager in the Bank of Maharashtra branch. The amount of embezzlement was distributed by Ojha including former manager Abhishek Ratnam, Vinod Panwar, accountant Nilesh Chalotre, Dinanath Rathore. About a year later, the then branch manager Ritesh Chaturvedi had complained of embezzlement to the police station on June 19, 2014. It was told in the complaint that on the basis of fake name and photo, amount has been withdrawn from the bank by making Kisan Credit Card. Even after the death of Taroda elderly resident Darshan’s father Shivlu, money was withdrawn by opening an account in his name. An amount of about 1.25 crore rupees was withdrawn by making Kisan Credit Card in the name of other farmers also.
After the complaint, the police found during the investigation that after withdrawing the amount, bank manager Abhishek Ratnam, Vinay Ojha, accountant Nilesh Chalotre, Dinanath Rathore and others had divided the amount among themselves. Police had registered a case against Abhishek Ratnam, VK Ojha, Nilesh Chalotre and others under sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120B, 34 and sections 65, 66 of the IT Act. In this case, the then manager Abhishek Ratnam, Nilesh Chalotre and others were arrested in the past. Vinay Ojha was on the run since the registration of the case. Multai TI Sunil Lata told that Vinay Ojha has been arrested on Monday. The police produced him in the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court and sought one-day remand. The court has sent him on one-day police remand for questioning.
