Former India opener and commentator Aakash Chopra has analyzed Team India’s legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s spectacular comeback in T20s. He believes that Ashwin has not done anything different nor has he discovered anything new. Due to the injury of Washington Sundar, R Ashwin got a place in the T20 World Cup and after almost four years he returned to T20 International.
In the video shared on his YouTube channel, Akash said, “Ashwin has performed brilliantly in the last five matches, if we look at the Afghanistan match to the second T20 International. He has played five matches in a row. Economical every time and wickets all the time. Everyone is asking how did Ashwin do this? But they have discovered something new. He did not find a place in the playing XI in the first two matches against New Zealand and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. After this, in the five T20 matches played so far, Ashwin has taken nine wickets at an economy rate of 5.25.
Akash also pointed out that Ashwin has been consistently performing well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the last few years as well. In the last three seasons of IPL, he has taken 35 wickets at an economy rate of 7.45. He said that he had not gone anywhere. You didn’t choose them. He has been playing IPL for the last 8 to 10 years. He plays 14 matches. He never gives more than 25-30 runs in his four overs and sometimes he takes wickets.
