Salman Butt said that Rahul Dravid should avoid questions related to the World Cup.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is to be played in India between October-November.
New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has criticized Indian coach Rahul Dravid for his comments about the team management reducing the squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Rahul Dravid was asked about the team ahead of the final ODI against Australia in Chennai on Tuesday. On this, he had said that the team management is keeping an eye on 17-18 players. Dravid also insisted on trying different combinations before the tournament. Salman Butt is not liking this statement of Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid had said, “Perhaps there are not going to be too many games in our conditions. We got a chance to play in these conditions, which are fantastic. Yes, coming out of IPL to a great extent, we are very clear about the kind of team and players we want. We have narrowed it down to 17-18 players.”
Salman Butt did not like this comment of Rahul Dravid and criticized the Indian coach on his YouTube channel. The former Pakistan captain asked Dravid to first focus on winning the series against Australia and instead of talking about team combination, solve the batting problems.
Salman Butt said, “Rahul Dravid said that he will keep trying different combinations. First win the series! Change is irrelevant. We have to see how you sort out your batting concerns first. All this talk about team combination… This is where the confusion begins. How much do you want to change?”
Salman Butt also said that the Indian coach’s focus should be on the third ODI and how to win it and he should have avoided questions about the World Cup. Salman Butt said, “At this point all the conversation should be on the third ODI and how to win it. If someone asks another question, you can say that it has nothing to do with the match. He has talked a lot about the combination, this should not happen again and again.
