Suryakumar Yadav has a lot of experience playing domestic cricket: Salman Butt
Suryakumar is included in the team for two Test matches in the India-Australia series.
New Delhi. Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has backed flamboyant India batsman Suryakumar Yadav in Test cricket considering his sensational form in the white-ball format. Suryakumar’s batting exploits have impressed many. Especially the kind of form he has maintained in the shortest format. Suryakumar is currently the No. 1 batsman in T20 Internationals, having scored 1164 runs in 31 innings in 2022. This includes two centuries and nine half-centuries. Despite the excellent form in limited overs cricket, this batsman has not yet made his debut in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Salman Butt said that Suryakumar would need to make minor changes to his game to find his footing in red-ball cricket.
Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel, “Suryakumar Yadav has a lot of experience playing domestic cricket. I think he knows the longer format very well. He should know that he will have to adapt to red-ball cricket. You need to tweak your shot selection a bit while focusing on playing to your strengths.”

Butt said, “His confidence is high due to his tremendous form in white-ball cricket. It will help him when he plays Test matches. He has been playing first-class cricket for almost a decade, which is pretty good for a player of his calibre.
The right-handed batsman featured in two Ranji Trophy matches for Mumbai in the 2023 season and scored 233 runs in three innings at an average of 74.33. Butt further said that it would not be difficult for Suryakumar to adapt to the longest format. He said, “When someone performs such top class performance in international cricket, it means that he is certainly very intelligent and a sharp thinker. I don’t think it will be too difficult for him.
Significantly, this star batsman can end his wait after a long time and make his Test debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in February. He is one of the players included in the squad for the first two Tests of the four-match series starting on February 9.
