Former spinner made fun of Shahid Afridi as chief selector, shared an embarrassing photo

new Delhi. Former captain Shahid Afridi was named as the interim chief selector of Pakistan. The Pakistan cricket fraternity has been divided into two after he was given an important position in the PCB. On one hand where some former cricketers are praising him, on the other hand some are not telling this decision right. Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi had announced that Afridi, along with Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar, would form an interim selection committee for the New Zealand tour starting on Monday in Karachi.

Najam Sethi posted on his official Twitter handle, β€œI am happy to announce an interim selection committee for the tour of New Zealand. This includes Shahid Afridi (chief selector), Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar. Haroon Rasheed is involved as the coordinator.

The decision received mixed reactions from the Pakistan cricket fraternity. Former spinner Danish Kaneria took a dig at Shahid Afridi by sharing a picture in which he can be seen tampering with the ball with his teeth. The picture shared by Kaneria is from a game played between Pakistan and Australia in Perth a decade ago i.e. in 2010. Captain Afridi was caught by TV cameras biting the ball on several occasions. The TV umpire informed the on-field umpires about this and after talking to Afridi, the ball was changed by the umpires.

Shahid Afridi had to face the consequences of his act. He was banned for 2 T20 matches. He admitted to tampering with the ball and said that this practice is common among all teams. Afridi then told the Pakistani media, “I should not have done this. this just happened. I was trying to help my bowlers and win one match, one match. There is no such team in the world, which does not tamper with the ball. My method was wrong. I am sorry, I should not have done this. I just wanted us to win a game, but it was the wrong way.”
