New Delhi. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that he is still looking forward to see Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Chahal was not included in India’s T20 World Cup squad last month after the national selectors picked players for the upcoming tournaments to be held in UAE and Oman. Harbhajan advised Chahal not to bowl too slow, which was one of the reasons for the spinner being dropped.
Harbhajan Singh had earlier taunted the Indian selectors after Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant bowling in the UAE phase of IPL 2021. Harbhajan tweeted for Chahal and wrote, “You have given your best as always…keep it up…and make sure you keep bowling at the right pace. Not too slow okay… still hope to see you in Team India for T20 World Cup. Champion bowler.”
Meanwhile, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar feels the selectors should not make any changes in the T20 World Cup squad while some Indian players are going through a weak phase ahead of the event in UAE. Agarkar said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected, “In my opinion, once you have selected the team for the World Cup (barring injury) I don’t think you should make any changes. Yes, at the moment there are people who are not in their great form, but it takes only one innings to change that form (be it bowling or batting) and it can happen before the end of IPL as well.
The former Indian cricketer wants the selectors to be with the team as a player needs only one innings (in IPL 2021) to regain form. So, if you think you have picked the best 15 players to go to the World Cup, then my personal opinion is, I will stick with it, because even when things are not looking so good, you have to You have to show faith in people, because things can change. Very early.”
