New Delhi. The defending champions Gujarat Titans have started the IPL 2023 with a bang. The Gujarat team, captained by Hardik Pandya, defeated the 4-time champions Chennai Super Kings (GT vs CSK) by 5 wickets in the first match. Many of its players played an important role in this memorable victory of Gujarat. This is Hardik & Co.’s third consecutive win over CSK. Earlier, he had defeated Chennai in two matches last season.

Shubman Gill’s half century

After Saha was dismissed for a personal score of 25, Gill shared a 53-run partnership for the second wicket with Sai Sudarshan to take the team’s score to 90 runs.

Vijay Shankar made a small but useful partnership

Rashid Khan- Rahul Tewatia showed strength

Experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami spoiled the start of CSK by dismissing opener Devon Conway cheaply. Shami bowled Conway on a personal score of 1 run. After this, he gave a big blow to Chennai by getting the dangerous looking Shivam Dubey caught by Rashid Khan on a personal score of 19 runs. Shami took 2 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.

Alzarri Joseph stopped Rituraj from a century
West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph gave a big relief to Gujarat by depriving dangerous looking Rituraj Gaikwad of a century. He sent Gaikwad to the pavilion on a personal score of 92. After this, Alzarri did not give all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja a chance to settle down and sent him to the pavilion early on a personal score of one run.
