New Delhi. Today is the 69th birthday of the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. He may be the Prime Minister of the country today, but before that he did many big things as a cricketer. He won the ODI World Cup title for Pakistan for the first time under his captaincy in 1992. Pakistan’s team has not been able to win the ODI World Cup title again till date. After retiring from cricket, he became the Vice Chancellor of the English University. Formed his own political party and today he is the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Born on 5 October 1952 in a Pashtun family, Imran Khan’s father was a civil engineer. Apart from Pakistan, he also studied in England. He started playing first class cricket at the age of 16. He also played for the English county team from 1971 to 1976 and again from 1983 to 1988. He made his Test debut against England in 1971. At the same time, in August 1974, he got a chance to make his ODI debut.
62 wickets in 9 Tests, record still holds
The year 1982 proved to be the best for Imran Khan. He took 62 wickets in 9 Tests at an average of 13. This is still the best average for a bowler to take more than 50 wickets in a year. He is included in the list of selected cricketers to score 300 wickets and 3,000 runs in Tests. He scored 3807 runs in 88 Tests at an average of 38. Scored 6 centuries and 18 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also took 362 wickets at an average of 23. 23 times to take 5 wickets. His best performance was 8 wickets for 58 runs. He scored 3709 runs in 175 ODIs and also took 182 wickets. He retired from cricket 6 months after winning the World Cup.
Cancer hospital built in memory of mother
In 1991, Imran Khan started a campaign to build a cancer hospital in the memory of his mother. In 1994, he also got the first hospital built in Lahore. In 2015, he started another hospital in Peshawar. Now there is also a research center here. Imran was also chancellor of the University of Bradford from 2005 to 2014. He formed his own political party Tehreek-e-Insaf in 1996. In 2002, he won the election of the National Assembly. He became the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018.
Married three, there were discussions of many affairs
Discussions of Imran Khan’s affair ranged from former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto to Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman. He has done three marriages. He married Bushra Biwi in 2018. Earlier, he was married to Jemima Goldsmith of Britain and Reham Khan, a British citizen. Both of them have got divorced.
