Sales of electric scooters are increasing rapidly and due to this Honda is preparing to launch some models in this segment. The company’s Managing Director, Atsushi Ogata said that Honda will create charging infrastructure to help it plan for its electric vehicles in the country. “We are planning to launch the first electric scooter in March next year. It is being developed on a new platform and will be customized as per the requirements of the Indian market,” he added. He said that the company’s first electric scooter will have a fixed battery, while the second model will be launched with replaceable battery technology.

With this key, the user can lock and unlock the scooter without using the physical key. This key can start the engine of the scooter when it is within a radius of two meters. It also has an engine start and stop switch. The company has also claimed to make the engine of this scooter more powerful than before. Its 110 cc PGM-FI engine comes with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology. The new Activa will compete with the already existing scooters like TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro in the market.
