His fiery batting in the top order caught the attention of IPL franchises and in 2017 he was picked by Mumbai Indians. But, Jitesh did not get a chance to play for Mumbai. Later he was released. After this, he played the role of finisher in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He hit the maximum number of 19 sixes in the tournament.

After this, Jitesh got the support of Punjab Kings and he made his IPL debut for this team. Last year, he scored runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 163. Now he has got a chance against New Zealand.

In an interview given to Hindustan Times, Jitesh talked about selection in Team India, cricket career. He said, ‘I did not know that there would be a call regarding the selection. I didn’t expect this. I was preparing for IPL. Because I was not in the Ranji Trophy team. That’s why I was working on my fitness. Suddenly I got a call from Chetan sir. He said that you have been selected for the remaining 2 matches against Sri Lanka. I didn’t even get a chance to celebrate it. Because I had to reach Pune immediately. Please tell that Jitesh was selected in the team as a replacement for the injured Sanju Samson.
