ICC Men’s Player of the Month nominations for September announced – Latest Cricket News

India-born American Jaskaran Malhotra was on Wednesday named among the three cricketers nominated for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Best Men’s Player of the Month for September. Malhotra recently became the fourth player to hit six sixes in an over in an international match. Bangladesh spinner Nasum Ahmed and Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane are also in the list of ICC’s best men’s players for the month of September. England captain Heather Knight, her compatriot Charlie Dean and South Africa’s Lizli Lee have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month.

Chandigarh-born and 31-year-old Malhotra, who captained Himachal Pradesh at the Under-19 level, scored an unbeaten 173 against Papua New Guinea in a World Cup League 2 match in Oman on September 9 last month. He hit six sixes. He has 261 runs to his name in six ODIs at an average of 87 and a strike rate of 104.40.

Nasum Ahmed was Bangladesh’s star player in the home T20 series against New Zealand, in which the rival team was caught by his precise line and length. He took eight wickets in this series, with his performance in the fourth match at four for 10. Thanks to this performance, the hosts defeated New Zealand by a margin of 3-2. Lamichhane has impressed everyone with his bowling in his short career so far. His stellar performance continued in the month of September as well, in which he was the best bowler in the World Cup League 2. In six ODIs, he took 18 wickets and he grabbed everyone’s attention with six wickets for 11 runs against Papua New Guinea.

Among women, Charlie Dean was the leading wicket-taker in the home ODI series against New Zealand. He took 10 wickets. With this, England won the series 4–1. England captain Heather Knight did well with both the ball and the bat. He added 214 runs in which he scored 89 and 101 runs in the first and fourth ODIs respectively. He also took three wickets. Lizlie Lee was the top scorer in the ODI series against West Indies on Caribbean soil with 248 runs.
