Sunil Narine has proved to be a match winner for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Sunil not only performed brilliantly with the ball, but also played the role of a pinch hitter. The ICC T20 World Cup is to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman after IPL 2021. Narine is not part of the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup and since his performance for KKR, there has been a debate on whether he should be included in the West Indies squad. West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has spoken about this.
Narine took four for 21 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator match, which also featured big names like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell. Naren played his last international match in August 2019. West Indies captain Kieron Pollard said about Narine, ‘I would not like to comment on this. I think it has been explained why Naren is not part of the team. As far as I am concerned, I know Sunil Narine as a friend before I know him as an international cricketer.
Regarding the fitness of Andre Russell, who is playing for KKR, Pollard said, ‘We have to see how fit he is before what he can do or what not. We haven’t been able to meet him yet. He is a very important player for our team. We will have to see what happens in the coming day or two.
