New Delhi. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Has announced the Indian team for the Asian Games. Most of the young players have been included in the team. Rituraj Gaikwad has been made the captain of Team India while experienced opener Shikhar Dhawan has also been kept out of the Asian Games. After not getting a place on the Windies tour, it was expected that Dhawan could be made the captain of Team India for the Asian Games to be played in China, but the selectors did not give him a place in the team, let alone a captain. Not seeing Dhawan’s name in the Asiad squad, people are very angry towards BCCI.

IPL 2023 star by Indian selectors Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh have also been given a place in the squad. The cricket competition in Asiad will be played from 28 September to 8 October. Sharing Shikhar Dhawan’s photo on Twitter, a user named Rick Ghosh wrote, ‘Shikhar Dhawan is not in the Indian team in the Asian Games.’ We lost Kohinoor in search of gold. The third user wrote that BCCI has not only announced the team for the Asian Games, but has told that Shikhar Dhawan is no longer a part of their plan!

The return of these players
Rituraj Gaikwad will lead the team for the first time. He is currently a part of the Test team in the Windies. Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Mavi have returned along with all-rounder Washington Sundar. Pacers Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar will add depth to the pace attack. Gaikwad’s CSK teammate Shivam Dubey has also been successful in making a place in the team.

Dhawan not getting a place in India’s B team announced for Asiad also raises questions on his career. Making Rituraj the captain clearly means that BCCI is now looking towards the future. Dhawan has been in and out of the team for some time now. Dhawan is out of the Test team since September 2018 while he played the last ODI in December 2022. He was last seen in T20 International in July 2021.
