Ishaan Kishan seizes the opportunity

Ishan Kishan scored 76 runs in 48 balls, forgetting the sorrow of failure in the IPL, as India made a mammoth score of 211 runs for 4 wickets in the first T20 match. This is India’s highest score in this format against South Africa. Ishan, who was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore 25 lakh in IPL, could not show any wonders with the bat but he gave India a great start in the first T20. He was accompanied by Rituraj Gaikwad, who himself was also a flop in the IPL.

Ishaan hit 11 fours and three sixes in his innings. Shreyas Iyer scored 36 and Rishabh Pant, captaining India for the first time due to the injury of KL Rahul, scored 29 runs. South Africa suffered a setback even before the match started when batsman Aiden Markram was ruled out due to being found to be Corona positive. In his place, Tristan Stubbs got the opportunity to make his debut.

Ishaan and Rituraj Gaikwad added 51 runs for the first wicket

India got off to a good start as Ishaan and Gaikwad added 51 runs in six overs of the powerplay. In the very first over of Keshav Maharaj, Ishaan showed his attitude by hitting two fours. 13 runs including five wides were scored in this over. Kagiso Rabada tried to ease the pressure by giving only two runs in the second over. But in the very next over, Gaikwad opened his hands to Enrique Norkhia by hitting the first six of the innings at short fine leg. Gaikwad, who could not do anything special for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, again hit Norkhia for a six in the sixth over. In the same over, Ishaan completed India’s fifty by hitting two fours.

Dwayne Pretorius near the boundary on the first ball of the seventh over gave Gaikwad life on the delivery of Wayne Parnell. At that time, Gaikwad’s score was 17 runs, but after this six, he was caught behind the wicket on the very next ball. Gaikwad scored 23 runs in 15 balls. After this, Shreyas Iyer, batting aggressively with Ishaan, increased the run-rate rapidly. In the eighth over, he hit Tabrez Shamsi for a six at long on. After this, in his next over, he again hit two sixes at long on and took India beyond hundred runs. After ten overs, India’s score was 102 for one wicket.

Shreyas Iyer got life on the personal score of 25

Iyer got life on a personal score of 25 runs when Quinton de Kock missed the stumping opportunity off Maharaj. Meanwhile, Ishaan completed his half-century in 37 balls with the help of nine fours and one six by hitting Maharaj for a six. Ishaan strongly advised Maharaj in the next over and hit sixes on deep midwicket in the first two balls and straight fours over the bowler’s head on the next two balls. On the fifth ball, the on-field umpire gave him out LBW but the review decision was in favor of the batsman. However, he returned to the pavilion by catching Stubbs on the next ball.

Rishabh Pant scored 29 runs in the first match as captain

Shreyas could not convert a good start into a big innings and scored 36 runs in 27 balls and got bowled by Pretorius. Captain Pant took 18 runs including two sixes and a four in the next over of Pretorius. In the next over, Hardik Pandya hit Parnell for a four and a six. On the first ball of the last over, Norkhiya got Pant caught by Van der Dussen. In his first match as captain, Pant was dismissed for 29 runs in 16 balls. After this, Dinesh Karthik, who came on the field, was welcomed by the audience with the noise of ‘DK DK’ but IPL winning captain Hardik Pandya hit a six in this over.
