Cuttack. The Indian cricket team is standing on the verge of losing the 5-match T20 series against the visiting South Africa (IND vs SA T20). Proteas team defeated hosts India by 4 wickets in the second T20 match played in Cuttack to take a 2-0 lead in the 5-match series. Indian batsmen were flop in the second T20. when in this match Dinesh Karthik (Dinesh Karthik) before Akshar Patel When (Axar Patel) was sent to bat, everyone raised questions on it. However, after the match, Team India’s batsmen Shreyas Iyer (Shreya Iyer) gave the reason for this.
Shreyas Iyer scored 40 runs in 35 balls in the second T20 match, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. Team India’s middle order batsman Shreyas has defended the decision to send Axar Patel before Dinesh Karthik. Right-handed batsman Shreyas said that this decision was taken in view of the circumstances. After the match, Shreyas told reporters, ‘We had adopted such a strategy earlier also. When Axar came to the crease, we had seven overs left. He can take a couple of runs and rotate the strike.
This strategy did not work for the Indian team. Akshar was seen struggling to score runs. His dismissal in the 17th over reduced India’s score to 112 for six. Karthik’s unbeaten 30, who came to bat at number seven, helped India reach 148 for six.
‘…then no one needed to hit with the very first ball’
According to Shreyas, ‘ Apart from this, there was no need for anyone to hit the crease and hit with the first ball. DK (Karthik) can do that, but he has been more beneficial to us after 15 overs where he can play long shots as soon as he hits the crease. Shreyas argued that even Karthik had to struggle to score runs on this wicket.
‘Dinesh Karthik also struggled for runs in the beginning’
Shreyas said, ‘Even in the beginning, he (Karthik) also found it a little difficult to score runs. The wicket played a big role in this match. As far as this strategy is concerned, we will go ahead with it. If you look at the match, I think 160 runs on this wicket would have been really good to put a little pressure, but we were 12 runs short of that .’ If Karthik had been sent earlier, India could have scored more than 160 runs. The third T20 match of the series will be played on June 14 in Visakhapatnam.
