3 ODI series to be held between India and Australia
The first match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 17.
New Delhi. Australia’s problems are not reducing. After the 2-1 defeat in the Test series against India, another bad news has come for the team. Australia’s regular captain Pat Cummins will not be with the team in the ODI series as well. In the information given by Cricket Australia, it has been said that Cummins will not return to India for the ODI series starting on March 17 and Steve Smith will be the captain of the team in his place.
Pat Cummins returned home after the second Test match played in Delhi due to ill health of his mother Maria. Steve Smith led the team in the remaining 2 matches of the Test series. Maria died last week due to breast cancer. For this reason, Cummins is currently away from cricket.
First ODI will be played in Mumbai
There is to be a series of 3 ODIs between India and Australia. The first match will be held on March 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The second match will be held in Visakhapatnam on March 19 and the last match of the series on March 22 in Chennai. All matches will be day-night.
Smith led comeback
The first 2 matches of the Border-Gavaskar series were played in Nagpur and Delhi. Australia had to face a big defeat in both these test matches. Steve Smith became the captain of the team after Pat Cummins returned. Under his leadership, the team registered a win in Indore and confirmed the ticket to the final of the World Test Championship, raising hopes of a return to the series. However, due to the draw of the Ahmedabad Test, Australia’s attempt to equalize the series failed. After the retirement of Aaron Finch, Pat Cummins was made the captain of Australia’s ODI team.
