Kuldeep took 4 wickets for 33 runs on the second day and pushed Bangladesh to the backfoot. He is close to taking 5 wickets in an innings of Test after almost 4 years. He last did this feat in 2019 in the Sydney Test against Australia. Two years later, he got a chance to play the next Test for India. He played in the Chennai Test against England in February 2021. However, combining both the innings of this match, he got a chance to bowl only 12.2 overs.

Kuldeep shared an 87-run partnership in 200 balls for the 8th wicket with off-spinner R Ashwin before the second day of this Test. He scored 40 runs facing 112 balls. This is his best score in Test. Due to this partnership, India was able to cross 400 runs in the first innings. After rocking the bat, Kuldeep bowled amazingly. There was no answer to the Bangladeshi batsman for his spinning balls.
