London. India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, after taking 6 wickets in the first ODI against England (ENG vs IND 1st ODI), said that getting swing from the first ball made his job easier. It is not easy to get swing in white ball cricket, but after all three T20s in England, fast bowlers are getting swing in ODIs as well.
Bumrah, who was adjudged the man of the match in this match played at the Kennington Oval ground, said, “It is exciting to find swing and seam in white-ball cricket because usually on pitches that are available, they have to be played in a defensive manner.” He said, ‘I was getting swing on the first ball itself and I tried to capitalize on it. When the ball is helping, you don’t have to put in much effort. The real test is when the wicket is flat.
He further said, ‘As soon as Shami bowled the first over, we had a conversation. Very happy for him, he has got a lot of wickets. When the ball is spinning, the wicketkeeper and the players inside the circle are very active. Very happy that Rishabh is working hard on his keeping as well as his batting. Shami took 3 wickets in this match while Pant took 3 catches behind the wicket.
India chased down the target in 18.4 overs without losing any wickets after bowling England out for 110. Captain Rohit Sharma said, ‘Shikhar and I understand each other very well. He has been playing ODI cricket for a long time and has been doing well for us in these conditions.
