London. The Indian team made a winning start to the 3-match ODI series against England (India vs England). The first match of the series was played on Tuesday at the Kennington Oval ground in London. After losing the toss and forced to bat first, the hosts England were bundled out for just 110 runs in 25.2 overs in front of the Indian bowling. Captain Jos Buttler was the highest scorer for the team by scoring 30 runs. He faced 32 balls in the middle order and hit 6 fours.
Team India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah took 6 wickets while bowling lethally. This is the best performance of his ODI career. Apart from this, Mohammed Shami took 3 and famous Krishna took 1 wicket. The target of 111 runs was easily achieved by the Indian team in 18.4 overs without any loss. Team India captain Rohit Sharma played an unbeaten half-century of 76 runs in 58 balls. Apart from this, Shikhar Dhawan (31 *) played him well.
Rohit Sharma said after the match, ‘Today it was very important to win the toss. The weather and the pitch helped the bowlers a lot. Our fast bowlers took full advantage of the current conditions. Today we had set fielders exactly according to the pitch. If the pitch is like this, then you have to employ some players for catching.
He further said, ‘When we came out to bat, we made a mistake on the very first ball, but batted well after that. Dhawan has joined the team after a long time, but his arrival has strengthened the team. Actually, while chasing the target, on the very first ball of the innings, Rohit and Shikhar were caught in a yes-no affair in the affair of singles. Thankfully no one got run out.
After the match, the newly appointed captain Jos Buttler looked quite disappointed. He said, ‘Today was a very difficult day. The way the bowlers were getting swing from the pitch, it was very difficult for the batsmen. Apart from this, the bowlers of the opposition team bowled well. Bumrah is a fine bowler. He showed a good game in today’s match. When you come out to defend a small target, it is not an easy task to take all the wickets of the opposition team. I instructed my bowlers to go for wickets, but we could not succeed in it.
