IND vs ENG: Rohit-Shikhar made a strong record, now Sachin-Ganguly’s great record is on target

New Delhi. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team washed host England on Tuesday. The Indian team defeated England (India vs England) by 10 wickets in the first ODI match. This is the record for India’s biggest win over England. England also made the record for the lowest score against India after being bundled out for 110 runs. In a way, this match brought rain of records. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami made important records in Jahan bowling. At the same time, captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan touched such a point in the opening partnership, which only three pairs have been able to touch in the world so far.

In the match played at the Oval in London, India bundled out England for just 110 runs. After the bowlers, Indian batsmen also performed strongly, which was led by captain Rohit Sharma himself. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan shared 114 runs in 18.4 overs to give India a 10-wicket win. This is the first time that India has defeated England by 10 wickets in an ODI match.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan also made a record of opening partnership of 5000 runs during this period. Rohit-Shikhar is only the fourth opening pair in the world, who have crossed this milestone. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly hold the record for scoring the most runs as an opening partner in ODI cricket. Both of them opened together in 136 innings and scored 6609 runs at an average of 49.32.

Gilly-Hayden’s record in danger
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have shared a partnership of 5108 runs in 112 innings as opening partners. Now ahead of them are the pairs of Sachin Tendulkar-Sourav Ganguly, Adam Gilchrist-Matthew Hayden, Gordon Greenidge-Desmond Haynes. The Australian pair of Gilchrist-Hayden opened together in 114 innings and shared a partnership of 5372 runs. The Caribbean pair of Greenidge-Hans have added 5150 runs in 102 innings. That is, to break the record of Greenidge-Hans pair, Rohit-Shikhar now have to score only 43 more runs. If Rohit-Dhawan makes a partnership of 265 runs, then they will also break the record of Gilchrist and Hayden’s pair. Looking at the form of Rohit-Shikhar, it does not seem too difficult.

Sachin-Ganguly’s record is also not safe
The record of opening partnership of Sachin and Ganguly also does not look safe. The pair of Rohit and Dhawan is 1501 runs behind the record of opening partnership of Sachin-Ganguly pair. Rohit-Dhawan averages an opening partnership of 46.43 runs per match. If they keep partnering with this average, then after 33 innings they can break the world record of 6609 runs of Sachin and Ganguly. Indian team plays about 30 ODI matches in a year. That is, if the pair of Rohit-Dhawan remains till next year’s World Cup, then Sachin-Ganguly’s partnership record can be his name.
