The two-match Test series between India and New Zealand is to begin from tomorrow at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. A day before the match, head coach Rahul Dravid got captain Ajinkya Rahane to practice batting on his own balls. Captain Virat Kohli has been rested from the Kanpur Test, with Rahane leading the side while Cheteshwar Pujara is the vice-captain. Virat Kohli will return as the captain of the team from the second Test of the series to be played in Mumbai.

This is Rahul Dravid’s first Test series as the head coach of Team India. All eyes will be on how Rahane and Pujara play in this series under Rahul’s tutelage. The batting form of both Rahane and Pujara is not going well. Rahane has been the target of critics for his poor form. Talking about the match, Shreyas Iyer is all set to make his debut in the first Kanpur Test against New Zealand. Rahane has confirmed this, although Rahane did not specify which batting and bowling combination the team will go with.
In the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul and Rishabh Pant, the team’s batting unit is looking a bit weak, in such a situation, Team India can give place to an extra batsman. If this happens, then either Suryakumar Yadav or KS Bharat can make a batsman and debut.
