3rd ODI will be played between India and New Zealand in Christchurch
How will be the playing-XI of Team India in the third ODI?
Who will get a chance in Sanju Samson or Rishabh Pant
New Delhi. The third and last match of the 3 ODI series will be played between India and New Zealand on 30 November. In this match, Shikhar Dhawan’s team India will try to save the series by winning. New Zealand is currently leading 1-0 in the series. The host nation won the first ODI while the second match was washed out due to rain. Only 12.5 overs could be played in the second ODI in Hamilton. In such a situation, how will be the playing-XI of the Indian team in the third and last ODI? This is a big question.
Captain Shikhar Dhawan made changes in the playing-11 in the second ODI in Hamilton. Deepak Hooda was given a place in the team as an alternative to the sixth bowler. But, this decision of the Indian management was criticized a lot. Because wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, who has been performing well in ODIs this year, was dropped once again in order to feed the sixth bowler and the out-of-form Rishabh Pant team was retained in the team. However, due to rain, neither Deepak could bat nor bowl.
Pant or Samson who will get a chance?
In such a situation, the question is whether captain Dhawan and coach VVS Laxman will change the playing-XI in the third ODI and if there is a change, then Samson will be out of the team in the sixth bowler’s round or he will get a chance in place of Pant and Deepak will be the sixth bowler. Will play as It will be interesting to see. However, one thing is certain that whether Sanju will play between Deepak or Pant, all eyes will be on him. If Samson gets a chance in place of Pant, then he will have to strengthen his claim in the middle order by playing big innings and living up to the trust of the team management. On the other hand, if Hooda plays, he will definitely be expected to bat as well as economical bowling as a part-time bowler.
Samson scored more runs than Pant-Huda in middle order
Samson played an inning of 36 runs in 38 balls in the first ODI. This year, this wicket-keeper batsman from Kerala batted well in ODIs. Batting in the middle order, Sanju has scored 284 runs in 9 ODIs at an average of 71. Even though he could not score a century. But, has returned unbeaten on five occasions. In the same year, if we look at Rishabh Pant’s performance in the middle order, he has scored 308 runs in 10 ODIs at an average of 44. This includes a century. Playing in the middle order with the bat of Deepak Hooda this year, 141 runs have been scored at an average of 28.20 in 9 ODIs. 33 runs has been his best score. That is, if we see in terms of statistics, then Samson’s pan is heavy on both Pant and Deepak.
Hooda can play as an option for the sixth bowler.
Still, it is difficult for Samson to get a chance in the last ODI. Because Pant will play as the vice-captain. At the same time, bowling is India’s weak link at this time. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Hooda is the only player who can be useful for the team in batting as well as bowling. In such a situation, there is little hope of Samson getting a chance in the third ODI as well.
IND vs NZ Match Preview: Rain washed third ODI will break India’s ambitions
Apart from this, there can be changes in bowling as well. Deepak Chahar, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh are sure to play. But, Kuldeep Yadav can probably be tried in place of Yuzvendra Chahal. He was also a part of the team in the T20 series. But, he did not get a chance to play in a single match. Chahal proved to be very expensive in the first ODI. He had looted 67 runs in 10 overs and could not even get wickets.
India’s possible playing-XI: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson/Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav.
