Jaipur. There is a possibility of a lot of dew falling during the first T20 International match between India and New Zealand in Jaipur on Wednesday. But the team winning the toss will not have much advantage. Jaipur is preparing to host an international match after 8 years. Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) officials and ground personnel said that the dew has been falling for the last two days from around 7 pm and the first T20 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium will start at this time. Due to this the concern of both Team India and New Zealand must have increased.
Dew played a big role in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in UAE, where dew helped each team to chase down the target. The team that scored in both the semi-finals and the final won. An official said, “Looking at the situation in the last two days, here in Jaipur, the dew may fall in the first innings itself, which will reduce the advantage of winning the toss to a great extent.” This is a T20 match. So a lot of runs can be expected on this wicket.
The team had achieved the target of 359 runs.
He said, ‘We will use anti-dew spray on match day, but we have all seen that its effect is very limited.’ In the last ODI match played here in 2013, India had achieved Australia’s target of 359 runs in just 43.3 overs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both scored centuries in this match. Due to administrative crisis in Rajasthan cricket, Jaipur did not get a chance to host international cricket in the last almost a decade. Jaipur will also host the ODIs in February.
Fans expected to come in large numbers
There is no limit on the number of spectators and in such a situation, the stadium with a capacity of 25,000 spectators is expected to be packed. RCA secretary Mahendra Verma said that after being put up for sale online last week, about eight thousand tickets were sold in the first three hours. Verma has been getting a lot of requests for a pass of the match and feels that it is impossible to fulfill.
Series is important for organizing IPL
He said, ‘The thrill of the return of international cricket after a long time can be understood. After spending most of the time indoors in the last 8 months due to Kovid-19, people are eager to watch the big match, due to which there is a lot of demand for tickets. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) was suspended in May amid the second wave of coronavirus, after which international cricket will return to India with this match. Successfully organizing the home series is important for the Cricket Board of India (BCCI), as it wants to organize the IPL next year at home.
