New Delhi. India’s veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that the India team needs to change their combination for the match against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021 (India vs New Zealand). The ‘Men in Blue’ will face New Zealand in the virtual quarter-final match on Sunday, October 31. Both India and New Zealand (IND vs NZ) have lost their first-ever match at the hands of Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. This is the second match of both the teams and both will try to win this match to reach the semi-finals. In such a situation, Harbhajan Singh has recommended Ishan Kishan to be included in the playing XI of Team India. He believes that he should replace KL Rahul at the top of the order.
Harbhajan Singh believes wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan can provide an explosive start for the team and has been in good form recently. Talking on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said, “I think Ishan Kishan needs to be in the playing XI. If he opens with Rohit Sharma, then India can get the start that he is currently looking for. Kishan is an explosive batsman, will put pressure on any bowler. He is also in good form. He has played some good innings for Mumbai Indians. He looked strong at the end of the IPL and in the practice match as well.”
In the recently concluded IPL season 2021, Ishan Kishan struggled in the middle order for Mumbai Indians. However, he returned to his form after coming up the top order and scored two fifties. Opening with KL Rahul in the warm-up match against England, he remained unbeaten on walk-off after scoring 70 runs.
Pandya should also play as a pure batsman at No.6: Harbhajan
Apart from Ishan Kishan, Harbhajan feels that Shardul Thakur should be included in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He believes that Hardik Pandya can contribute to the team even while playing as a pure batsman. His skill in the death overs is unparalleled. He said, “If Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma open the innings and Virat Kohli comes at number 3, then KL Rahul can bat at 4 also. This would make the top 4 very solid. Rishabh Pant should continue on 5.”
Harbhajan Singh further said, “Hardik Pandya is such a player who, if he finds his place, he can leave any batsman behind. Pandya should also play as a pure batsman at No. If we talk about the best batsmen, Hardik Pandya’s name comes without any question at the number 6 and number 7 position.
Let us tell you that India’s five-bowler strategy did not get any benefit in the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The Pakistan team chased down the target easily and won against India by 10 wickets.
