New Delhi. Team India has to face New Zealand on Sunday (IND vs NZ T20 World Cup) after the defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. This match is very important in terms of India’s chances of reaching the semi-finals. Earlier, the fitness of team’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya has increased India’s troubles. The Indian team management has decided that Hardik will be taken another fitness test on Friday and only after the result of that test will it be decided whether he will get a chance in the playing-11 against New Zealand or not. One thing is clear from this that Hardik will no longer be included in the team as a batsman.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, Pandya will be asked to pass the fitness again. He may be asked to bowl at least 3-4 overs in the practice session on Friday. During this practice session, the team management will keep a very close watch on Pandya and check whether he is fully fit or not. Only after this test will a final decision be taken on their selection.
Questions are being raised on the inclusion of Hardik in the team
Earlier, in the practice session on Wednesday, Pandya had bowled for about 15 minutes. Since Pandya stopped bowling due to back pain and stiffness, questions are being raised about his place in the Indian team time and again. Captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri are also on target for keeping him in the team despite not being completely fit. However, in the practice session on Wednesday, he bowled a few overs. This must have given some relief to the team management.
Hardik had a shoulder scan
28-year-old Pandya was taken for an MRI scan after the match against Pakistan due to pain in his right shoulder. The good thing is that there is no injury in his shoulder. Pandya did not even field in the match against Pakistan.
India-New Zealand match on Sunday
If Hardik is selected in the team for the match against New Zealand, then Team India will get the option of the sixth bowler. India had missed it in the match against Pakistan. Hardik last bowled in the Sri Lanka tour in July. However, after this he did not bowl a single ball in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. In such a situation, if he becomes fit for the match against New Zealand, then this will greatly increase the strength of the Indian team.
