Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami created history in the Centurion Test. Mohammed Shami has become the third fast bowler for India to take 200 Test wickets. Shami achieved this feat in his 55th Test match, while Kapil Dev did so in the 50th Test while Javagal Srinath did so in the 54th Test. Shami has given the credit of reaching this stage to his father and brother. After the third day’s play of the Centurion Test was over, Shami said during the press conference that most of the credit for where he has reached goes to his father.
Shami said, ‘Wherever I am today and whatever I am, most of the credit goes to my father. Because I am from an area where there were not many facilities. Taking five wickets is very special, it requires a lot of hard work. I would like to give credit to my father and brother for my success. My father and my brother always supported me. I am where I am only because of him.
Shami sent five South African batsmen to the pavilion on the third day of the Centurion Test. India scored 327 runs in the first innings, in reply South Africa were reduced to just 197 runs. Shami took the wickets of Aiden Markram, Keegan Pietersen, Temba Bavuma, Viaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada. Shami also completed his 200 Test wickets during this match. This was the sixth time Shami has taken five wickets in an innings.
