New Delhi. Indian fast bowling leader Jasprit Bumrah had to leave the field due to an ankle sprain on the third day of the first Test against South Africa (India vs South Africa) here on Tuesday. Bumrah made 14 runs while batting, contributing to India’s score of 327 runs in the first innings and then dismissed South African captain Dean Alger on the fifth ball of the innings.

At present he is under the supervision of the medical team. Shreyas Iyer is on the field for fielding in his place. Bumrah left the field without any help, but was later seen with a bandage on his ankle. He has taken one wicket for 12 runs. Bumrah was seen along with the team physio at the boundary line, where he was seen trying to regain his fitness.

Earlier, India were all out in the morning session on the third day of the match. South Africa restricted India for 327 runs in the first innings on the third day of the first Test cricket match with the help of bowling bowling from Lungi Ngidi.

Due to continuous rain on the second day, the pitch was helping the bowlers and Ngidi took full advantage of this and took six wickets for 71 runs in 24 overs. India started playing 272 runs for three wickets, but lost the remaining seven wickets within 55 runs.
