Veteran India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Saturday said the bowlers let stand-in captain Rishabh Pant down in the first T20I against South Africa. Pant was given the command of the team on the eve of the match due to KL Rahul’s injury, but the Indian team lost by seven wickets.
Bhuvneshwar said in the press conference before the second ODI, “He is a young captain and this was his first match. I am sure he will try to do better in future. The captain can do well only when the team does well.
“Our bowlers could not perform well and we let them down. If we had performed well, you would have been appreciating his decision-making ability. I am sure he will do well.”
He also expressed hope that the team will make a strong comeback in the second match. Bhuvneshwar is leading the Indian attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
Hardik Pandya changed his lifestyle to return to the team, said – no one knows what phase I went through for 6 months
“Everyone can have a bad day,” he said. We had a bad day as a bowling unit and it happens. We will come back in the next match. Everyone has done well in IPL and everyone knows what to do to perform better.
