India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has to face defeat in his debut match as captain. But former South Africa captain Graeme Smith says the team may not be able to win but Pant can be happy with the way India led India in the first match. Batting first, India had scored 211 runs, in response to which Africa achieved the target with 5 balls to spare.
After India’s 7-wicket loss in the first T20I, former South Africa captain Graeme Smith has praised Pant’s captaincy and said that it should not be forgotten that the 24-year-old was mercilessly trolled when he played the role of Delhi Capitals captain. Made some mistakes in form, due to which the team could not make it to the playoffs. However, Smith says that Pant has improved a lot as captain and the decisions he took on the field were really good.
Graeme Smith said, “When you lose you always criticize the captain. You have to take responsibility. But I think after his last match which was a must win for Delhi in IPL where he made some tough decisions And made bad decisions, I was interested to see him as captain in this match.
He continued, “But I think he was really good. He went to the right people at the right time. He tried to be ahead of the game. When South Africa were under pressure, he went to Bhuvi, he Went to Harshal. Overall, he took the right decision but your bowlers have to do well, you have to execute the plans.
