New Delhi. Team India’s upcoming tour of South Africa (India vs South Africa) has reportedly been postponed for a week. According to sources, this decision has been taken after the emergence of the Omicron variant of Kovid-19 in South Africa. Earlier it was revealed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put on hold the team selection for the tour of South Africa, as it awaits approval from the Indian government. However, the matter has not been confirmed by the board yet.
According to the news of CricketNext, sources say that the BCCI has not yet received the permission of the government and in view of the danger it has been decided to postpone the tour for a week. Several media reports have claimed that the selection meeting was to be held after the conclusion of the Kanpur Test. The players who were rested for the ongoing 2-match Test series against New Zealand were to undergo an 8-day quarantine before flying to South Africa, but there has been no communication with the players yet.
