New Delhi. India has tightened its grip on the Centurion Test (IND vs SA Centurion Test) against South Africa. India had made 327 in the first innings. In response, the hosts were bundled out for 197 runs in the first innings. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami played an important role in this. He took 5 wickets for 44 runs in the first innings. Shami led the Indian bowling attack for 49 overs after Jasprit Bumrah was injured and took 5 wickets in the first innings for the second time. During this, he also completed his 200 wickets in Test cricket by dismissing Kagiso Rabada. He became the overall 11th bowler to do so for India. Thanks to Shami, India could take a 130-run lead in the first innings.
Mohammed Shami After the end of the third day’s play of the Centurion Test, he had a special conversation with the bowling coach Paras Mhambrey on BCCI TV and opened the secret of celebrating in a special way after completing 200 Test wickets. After completing 200 wickets, Shami waved his hand looking at the sky. Through this, he remembered his father, who died of a heart attack in 2017. Shami also dedicated his 200th Test wicket to his father.

Father used to take me for coaching by bicycle: Shami
Recalling his father’s struggle with wide eyes, Shami said, “Whatever I am today, my father has made me. I come from a village where there are not many facilities and even today there are not many facilities related to sports. Still, my father used to cycle 30 kms to take me to coaching camps. I still remember that struggle of his. In those days and in those circumstances, he invested in me and I will always be grateful to him.
‘I didn’t even dream of taking 200 wickets’
Shami said about 200 Test wickets, no one can ever imagine that when you are struggling to leave your mark, what will you achieve in the future? Initially your dream is to play only for India and share the dressing room with those you have seen playing on TV. You only have to work hard in your hands and if you sweat, then the results also start coming in your favor.
‘There was every hope of taking 5 wickets this time’
4 wickets last time and 5 wickets this time, is this your favorite ground? On this question of Paras Mhambrey, Shami said that last time he was in Centurion, he missed taking 5 wickets. This time there was both effort and possibility to complete five and 200 wickets. Because I was bowling in the right line and length.
How are you feeling after entering the elite club of 200 Test wickets? To this Shami said that I am feeling proud to be able to represent the country. I cannot describe this happiness. I will try to perform better in future also.
