IND vs SA series virat kohli will be rested in series rohit sharma team india | IND vs SA series: Big blow to Team India even before South Africa series, Rohit’s biggest match winner will be out

IND vs SA series: Virat Kohli, who has been struggling with poor form, will be rested for the upcoming five-match T20 series against South Africa. It is expected that this break will relieve Kohli’s fatigue before the England tour. It is learned that the Chetan Sharma-led national selection committee will allow India’s number one batsman to take a break from the game as he has been spending a lot of time in the ‘bio-bubble’ for the past two months.

Kohli running in poor form

Kohli is going through a bad phase of his career, he has not scored a century in almost three years. A senior BCCI (Cricket Board of India) official told PTI on condition of anonymity, “There is every possibility that Virat Kohli will be rested for the South Africa series.” He has been playing a lot of cricket and has been living in the ‘bio-bubble’ for a long time. “It has been a policy decision with respect to Kohli and other senior players that they will be given breaks from time to time,” he said.

South Africa will clash against India

South Africa’s team will come to India to play a five-match T20 series from June 9 to 19. Delhi, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bangalore will host the matches. India will visit Britain in June-July. He will first play a T20I series against Ireland and then a Test against England (to complete the fifth Test of the 2021 series) and 6 white-ball matches.

Poor performance in IPL too

Kohli has been in poor form for IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was dismissed thrice without scoring a single run, while in the course of 216 runs, he has been able to add more than 50 runs only once. He averages 19.63 in 12 matches. Taking breaks several times helps the players to return to form and perhaps Kohli needs the same break. Former head coach Ravi Shastri has already clearly said that Kohli needs a long break from the game.

Shastri had recently said, ‘Be it for two months or one and a half months, be it before the England tour or after. He needs a break because he has 6-7 years of cricket left in him and you don’t want to miss it because of fatigue. Ian Bishop had also recently said that Kohli is getting out in different ways against different types of bowlers which is worrying.

The selection committee will meet at the end of the IPL. “Even captain Rohit Sharma needs proper rest as so much cricket is being played,” the official said. Some others include KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant who will need necessary rest from time to time.
