When Virat Kohli, the former captain of Team India, came to play his 100th Test, he was very restless and he was also ‘nervous’ like the first Test. But he is not worried about not scoring a century as he believes he is playing well. Kohli was dismissed for 45 runs on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka. India scored 357 for six in their first innings on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka on Friday. India has so far scored a score of 350 or more on the first day of a Test match 14 times. In this, he has done this feat six times against Sri Lanka. Rishabh Pant scored 96 and Hanuma Vihari scored 58 runs.
When asked by the media whether he would like to change his process due to lack of big innings, Kohli said, “My preparation is the same as it has always been.” As long as I am batting well, I am not worried. We are passionate about records and achievements. I felt like it was my first test. I was feeling restless and very nervous too.
He, however, admitted that now a good start will have to be converted into big innings. He said, ‘I had a good start and it is sad to get out. I was batting well. Disappointment as a batsman. Our effort is always to play big innings and put the team in a strong position.
Kohli said that in the Corona era, there is no time to work on his game. He said, ‘This situation is not such that it can be worked on by staying away from the game. It was tough to play for so long in all three formats and IPL. I am proud that I adapted my body to it.’
