New Delhi. India vs West Indies: In the first Test of Dominica between India and West Indies, a big achievement of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (Ravichandran Ashwin) remained suppressed amidst Rohit Sharma Brigade’s big win. In the match, Ashwin took 12 wickets for 131 runs (5 for 60 in the first innings and 7 for 71 in the second innings) and was the hero of the Indian victory along with ‘debutant’ Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi played an excellent inning of 171 runs in this test. Not only this, Ashwin has a chance to match Murali’s another ‘big’ record in the second and final Test to be held in Port of Spain.
During his bowling performance in Dominica Test, Ashwin equaled Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan’s ‘big’ record of taking 12 or more wickets in Tests. Both Murali and Ashwin have now taken 12 or more wickets in a Test six times each. Ashwin has played 93 Test matches so far while Murali has said goodbye to international cricket after taking 800 wickets in 133 Test matches.

Ashwin scored 12 for 85 against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 2012, 12 for 198 against Australia in Chennai in 2013, 98 against South Africa at Nagpur in 2015, 12 for 140 against New Zealand at Indore in 2016 13, 12 for 167 against England in Mumbai in 2016 and 12 for 131 against West Indies in Roseau Dominica in 2023.
Muralitharan, on the other hand, scored 12 for 117 at Kandy in 1998, 16 for 220 against England at The Oval in 1998, 13 for 171 against South Africa at Galle in 2000, 13 for 115 against Zimbabwe at Kandy in 2002, In 2006, he took 12 for 225 against South Africa in Colombo and 12 for 82 against Bangladesh in Kandy in 2007.
