Parshvi became ‘Player of the Match’ for important contribution in victory
New Delhi. In an important match of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2023, the Indian Women’s Under-19 team clashed with the Sri Lankan Women’s Under-19 team. In their last Super-6 match, the Indian women’s team defeated the Sri Lankan women’s team by seven wickets with 76 balls to spare. The hero of the match was all-rounder Parshavi Chopra. While bowling wreaking havoc, he got maximum four successes by spending just five runs. The opposition women’s team could never recover in front of Chopra’s excellent bowling and the Indian team got a bold victory.
Sri Lanka’s poor batting:
Forced to bat first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka’s start was nothing special and the team could only manage 59 runs in 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets. Captain Vishmi Gunaratne, batting at number three for the team, and Umay Ratnayake, batting at number five, could only reach double digits. Apart from this, other batsmen were dismissed in single digit only. For the team, where Gunaratne contributed 25 runs in 28 balls with the help of two fours. At the same time, Ratnayake managed to score 13 runs in 36 balls with the help of a four.

For the Indian women’s team, Parshvi Chopra got the maximum four successes while bowling four overs. On the other hand, Mannat Kashyap got two and Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi got one success respectively.
Indian women’s team won in 7.2 overs:
The target of 60 runs given by the Sri Lankan women’s team was easily achieved by the Indian women’s team at the loss of just three wickets in 7.2 overs. Captain Saumya Tiwari played the highest unbeaten innings of 28 runs in 15 balls with the help of five fours for the Blue team. Apart from this, while starting the innings, Shafali Verma contributed 15 runs in 10 balls and Shweta Sehrawat contributed 13 runs in 17 balls.
Devmi Vihanga was the only successful bowler for the opposition women’s team. While bowling four overs, Vihanga got three successes by spending 34 runs. Vihanga’s victims were Shafali Verma, Shweta Sehrawat and wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh.
