A BCCI official said, ‘After the World Cup, Rohit Sharma will be the next captain of Team India in the T20 format. It will be formally announced after the T20 World Cup. Kohli became the T20 captain of Team India in 2017. He has captained India in 45 T20 matches, in which the team has won 27 and his winning percentage is 65.11. Under Kohli’s captaincy, India are facing defeat in 14 matches and two matches have no result. Rohit has made Mumbai Indians champions five times under his captaincy, while Royal Challengers Bangalore have not won the title even once under Kohli’s captaincy.

At the same time, Rohit Sharma has led Team India in 19 T20 matches so far, out of which the team has won 15 and lost in four. Rohit’s winning percentage has been 78.94.
