London. The tour of England has never been easy for Team India. This was seen once again in the first practice match (India vs Leicestershire Match). The team lost 5 big wickets in the first session on the first day of the 4-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. It also includes the Youth Brigade. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer failed miserably. In the absence of KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane, the youth brigade is expected to perform well. In the match, captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. He too returned to the pavilion after scoring just 25 runs.
KL Rahul has been ruled out of the England tour due to injury. In such a situation, opening of Shubman Gill with Rohit Sharma is certain. But he got out after scoring 21 runs off 28 balls. He hit 4 fours in his innings. He was caught by Pant behind the wicket while tampering with the ball going outside the off-stump. Hanuma Vihari landed at number three. He faced 23 balls. But he too got out after scoring 3 runs behind the wicket.
Iyer could not even open the account
Test match against England is to be held from July 1. In this match, either Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer can get a chance in the middle order. But the poor performance of both the players would have raised the concerns of coach Rahul Dravid and the team management. Iyer was dismissed by Pant while playing a shot off the famous Krishna. He could not even open the account in 11 balls. 4 Indian players including Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are playing for Leicestershire.
Ravindra Jadeja also could not show any special game and was dismissed after scoring 13 runs in 13 balls. Now eyes are on Virat Kohli. Team India is ahead 2-1 in the test series against England. To reach 60 per cent in the World Test Championship, he has to win the last Test. The team is currently at number three in the table.
