New Delhi. The BCCI recently announced the Indian team for the 3 T20 and 2 Test home series against New Zealand (Indian Team For New Zealand Tour). But Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat was not included in both the teams. While he is consistently performing well in domestic cricket. After his neglect, Unadkat targeted the selectors by sharing a video of his fiery innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Syed Mustaq Ali T20 Tournament 2021) on Twitter.
Sharing this video, Unadkat wrote a funny caption – “Just another fast bowler who can bat.” However, he did not write anything directly for the BCCI or the selectors. But he expressed his intentions.
Unadkat is currently captaining Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. The video he shared of his batting on Twitter. That is from the match against Hyderabad last week. In this match, Unadkat scored an unbeaten 58 off 32 balls. In this match, he also hit big shots against bowlers like Mohammad Siraj.

Seeing this video, the fans started comparing him with Hardik Pandya. Actually, Hardik has been battling fitness for the last 1 year and Team India is looking for a fast bowling all-rounder as an alternative to Pandya. Recently, Venkatesh Iyer, who performed brilliantly in one season of IPL, got a place in Team India. But despite being senior and experienced, Unadkat missed out on making the place.
Saurashtra won the Ranji Trophy because of Unadkat
Unadkat also performed brilliantly in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy. Then Unadkat took 67 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.23 and helped his team win the first Ranji title. At the same time, his brilliant game continues in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Under his captaincy, Saurashtra finished second in Elite Group E with 4 wins in five matches. Now the team will face Karnataka in the pre-quarterfinals. Unadkat has taken 9 wickets in the tournament so far.
Unadkat didn’t get a chance even on Sri Lanka tour
Even earlier this year when Unadkat was not selected for the tour of Sri Lanka. Even then, he expressed his pain by posting a long post on Twitter and talked about leaving social media. Then this all-rounder wrote that I will work harder on my game now and will not spend time thinking why I was not selected and when my time will come. I will keep fighting till the end.
