India vs New Zealand Rohit Sharma to skip Tests and Ajinkya Rahane to lead in first Test – Latest Cricket News

Indian T20 captain Rohit Sharma will be rested for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. Ajinkya Rahane can replace Rohit as the captain of the team as Virat Kohli is also expected to be rested from the first match of the Test series. The official announcement of the Indian team for the Test series has not been made yet. But sources say that Rahane has been handed over the command of the team for the Test series starting in late November. The Indian team can be selected for the Test series in the next few days.

According to the Times of India report, sources say that in the selectors meeting held on Thursday, it was decided to rest Kohli from the first match while Rohit Sharma will be out of the entire Test series. This decision was taken keeping in mind the workload. Apart from them, it has also been decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur. In the opening, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal can open the innings with KL Rahul. Wriddhiman Saha is the selectors’ first choice as a wicketkeeper when Pant is rested.
