New Delhi. Immediately after the 3 T20 series between India and New Zealand, 2 Tests will be played (IND vs NZ Test Series) from 25 November. This is Rahul Dravid’s first series with the Indian team as head coach. In such a situation, Dravid has prepared a special plan to pass in his first examination. Under this, Team India’s camp in Mumbai will start from today. This will include the players selected for the Test series against New Zealand. Ishant Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, famous Krishna and Cheteshwar Pujara have also reached Mumbai for this camp.
A BCCI official told InsideSport that coach Dravid felt that a camp was needed before the series against New Zealand. Because Team India has not played cricket in this format since the Test series against England in August-September this year. In such a situation, this training camp will help the players to gain momentum. After this the players will go to Kanpur for the first test. Where Dravid and other players will join the team. Dravid will be with the T20 team in Jaipur and from there will go to Ranchi and then Kolkata for the series.
Ravindra Jadeja also extended leave
Like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja has also extended his leave. But Jadeja will join it before the camp is over. The official associated with the board said that Jadeja will join Team India’s camp in the next 3 to 4 days. He was in the bio-bubble for a long time. In such a situation, he wants to spend more time with the family. This is understandable. He had requested the board to extend the leave, which has been accepted.
Why did Dravid set up a camp in Mumbai before the Test series?
Players included in the Indian Test team have not played red ball cricket for 2 months. Coach Dravid felt that camp is necessary for the players at this time. New players like Shreyas Iyer, famous Krishna have also come in the Test team. In such a situation, the conditions and nuances of Test cricket will be explained to them through the camp.
According to the Indian Express report, the BCCI and Rahul Dravid earlier wanted Team India to have a camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Because there the players would get training under the supervision of the NCA coach. But at the last moment the location of the camp was changed to Mumbai. Because the second match of the Test series is to be played here from December 3. This will help the players in preparation.
There will be no bio-bubble for the camp
A BCCI official said that most of the players selected for the Test series against New Zealand have been in the bio-bubble for a long time. Therefore, a separate bio-bubble is not being prepared for the camp. Players will join the camp with a negative report of Corona and will be quarantined for 3 days before the Kanpur Test.
