IND vs SA T20 Series: South Africa’s T20 and ODI captain Temba Bavuma feels in-form David Miller will give the team confidence in the five-match T20I series against India starting June 9. The left-hander will join the national team after gaining a reputation as a finisher for IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans and performing well with the bat in the tournament.
There was a ruckus in IPL 2022
He scored 481 runs in 16 matches at an average of 68.71 and a strike-rate of 142.72. “It’s obviously very enjoyable and we will get a lot of confidence from the in-form David Miller,” Bavuma said. Also, his performance in the IPL and as a team, we will try to instill that confidence in the team. One of the most notable improvements in Miller’s game in IPL 2022 has been his dominance against spin.
Can wreak havoc against Team India too
Although he has generally been good against fast bowling and spin in his career. IPL 2022 stats say that he has done extremely well against spin, scoring 206 runs at a strike rate of 145.07, as compared to 275 runs at a strike rate of 141.02 against pace. For South Africa, Miller has mostly batted at number five and six. But in Gujarat team he batted at fifth position. Bavuma indicated that Miller would be considered for fifth place in the South African squad.
Will bat at number five
“He knows where he fits within our team, the role he plays within the team is something he has played quite well in the past few years. But if there is an opportunity to give more deliveries to David, then sending him to number five will be considered. Bavuma further thought that apart from playing in India, his team’s previous series with spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi would help them against the hosts.
