IND vs SA: South Africa’s white-ball team captain Temba Bavuma on Wednesday said pacer Enrique Norkhia may not have done so well in the Indian Premier League but he will play a key role in the T20 International series against India.
Big statement of African captain
Norkhia has been out of international cricket since last year’s T20 World Cup due to a hip injury. The fast bowler made a comeback playing for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but was out in the initial few matches. However, there was no glimpse of his best performance in him.
Bavuma said before the first T20 International against India, ‘Enrique is a big player for us, he is an important part of the bowling unit. When he joined IPL, he was out for a long time due to injury. He said, ‘But the more he plays, the closer he will get to the level he is capable of. He is an important member of our team and we expect him to perform like that.
The African team was heavy on Team India
The last time the two teams met, hosts South Africa had won 5 out of 6 matches on their tour of three Tests and the same number of ODIs at the start of the year. However, Bavuma’s team now has to face the young Indian team. He said, ‘It is an exciting series. We played the Indian team recently but it is a team with a different look (young players). There are many young faces in the team. There are some players who would like to prove themselves and some would like to strengthen their claim for a place in the Indian team.
He said, ‘So there will be no dearth of inspiration. What he did in South Africa, we don’t think we will see the same performance.
