Team India’s new star cricketer Shardul Thakur has impressed a lot with his performance in the Test format so far. As a fast bowler all-rounder, Shardul has performed well first in Australia then in England and he hopes that he will be successful in South Africa as well. Shardul shares the secret of his success during a conversation with R Ashwin. He told that after landing on the field, confidence is everything for him.
Due to his superior batting skills, the Indian team management has preferred Thakur over Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav in the ongoing first Test against South Africa here. Talking to his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul told BCCI.TV, “I am looking forward to my performance. I have been successful in England and Australia and hope to do well in South Africa as well. I would be happy to contribute to the conditions in South Africa.
Shardul, who has scored 366 runs for India in 43 international matches across formats besides taking 67 wickets, believes confidence is key. He said, ‘I like to plan my game both in bowling and batting. When I go on the field, confidence is everything for me. If you are playing white ball cricket, you think about yorkers. So I go about bowling yorkers with full confidence which is important for me as a player. The Mumbai cricketer said that his aim is to be someone who always contributes to the team’s victory.
