The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement, “Rahul has suffered a muscle strain in his left leg while Axar is in the final stages of his ‘rehabilitation’ after recovering from Kovid-19 recently. He will now go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to recover from his injuries. “The All India Senior Selection Committee has included Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda in his place in the team,” it said. Hooda is also a part of both the ODI teams.
Due to the fitness issues of Rahul and Axar, it is also doubtful for them to play in the home series against Sri Lanka from February 25. Rahul did not play in the first ODI against West Indies due to personal reasons.
