Indian team batsman Shikhar Dhan was honored with the Arjuna Award on Saturday. President Ram Nath Kovind presented this award to Dhawan at a program organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He shared a post on Instagram after receiving the award. He said that I am very honored to have received this award. Simultaneously, he congratulated all the award winners who received the Khel Ratna. Significantly, Dhawan was not selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2021.
Dhawan posted on his official Instagram account and wrote, ‘It is a great honor for me to receive the Arjun Award. I want to thank all the people who stood by me in this journey. My coaches, doctors, support staff, BCCI, teammates, all the fans, my friends and my family. This would not have been possible without the love and support of all of you. It is such an incredible feeling when your hard work is acknowledged and I express my immense gratitude to all the people. I will continue to work hard to make my country proud. 35 Indian athletes including Dhawan were honored with the Arjuna Award. Most of these athletes were medal winners at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Among the players who were given the Arjuna Award, hockey women player Vandana Kataria, Monika, kabaddi player Sandi Narwal, shooter Abhishek Verma and para badminton player Suhas Yathiraj are prominent. Apart from this, President Ram Nath Kovind presented Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award to 12 players, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who made history by winning gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.
