Indian lion overshadowed the most expensive player of IPL, salary one fourth, but wickets 3 times, eyes on return

IPL 2023: Punjab Kings beat KKR in the first match
Indian bowler took 3 wickets for Punjab Kings

New Delhi. IPL 2023 started well for Punjab Kings. The Punjab team led by Shikhar Dhawan defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in the first match. Thanks to the innings of Captain Dhawan (40) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (50), Punjab Kings scored 191 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Due to rain, KKR got a revised target of 154 runs in 16 overs. But, KKR lost the match by 7 runs.

As much as the batsmen had a hand in the victory of Punjab Kings, equally the contribution of the bowlers was also there. Especially Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh bowled amazingly. Arshdeep overshadowed the most expensive player in IPL history i.e. Sam Karen. The Indian pacer bowled better than his fellow fast bowler. Arshdeep Jahan took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 3 overs. At the same time, Sam Karen, who was sold for 18.50 crores in the IPL 2023 auction, has proved to be expensive. He also bowled 3 overs equal to Arshdeep. But, the wicket was only 1 and Karen gave more than 12 runs per over against the economy rate of Arshdeep Singh (6.33).

Karen was bought by Punjab for 18.5 crores
Please tell that Arshdeep Singh was bought by Punjab Kings in the mega auction of IPL 2022 for Rs 4 crore and retained for the 16th season. Whereas in the mini auction of IPL 2023, Punjab Kings surprised everyone by buying Sam Karen for Rs 18.50 crore. He became the costliest player in the IPL auction. But, in the first match of the league, at least Sam Karen looked ineffective in bowling. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh will get about 1/4 less salary than Karen this season. But, Arshdeep took 3 times wickets from Karen in the first match.

Don’t forget! Dhoni had hit that six today itself, which broke the magic, 28 years of drought was over

T20’s century machine gets eclipsed in IPL! Empty hands for 10 years, will the drought end this time?

Eyes on Arshdeep’s return to the ODI team
Arshdeep Singh did not get a chance in the 3 T20 series against Sri Lanka earlier this year. He must have played the T20 series against New Zealand. But, he was selected in the ODI series against Australia. Arshdeep played T20 World Cup last year and bowled well. ODI World Cup is to be held in India this year. In such a situation, his eyes will be on making his place in the ODI team and if Arshdeep is successful in repeating his performance against KKR in IPL 2023, then he may get a chance in the ODI team as well.
