This AI system was set up as part of the government’s National Program on Artificial Intelligence.
According to C-DAC, the AIRAWAT supercomputer runs on the operating system Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and is powered by an AMD EPYC 7742 64C 2.25GHz processor. Please tell that this is a processor with 81,344 cores. This supercomputer was installed this year.
Apart from AIRAWAT, three other supercomputers from India have made it to the Top 500 Global Supercomputing list. Among these, PARAM Siddhi-AI supercomputer gets 131st place in the list. It has also been installed at C-DAC, Pune. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology’s Pratyush supercomputer has secured the 169th position, while the Mihir supercomputer of the National Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting has been ranked 316th in the list.
The report states that Alkesh Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), highlighted the importance of AI, saying that it is the “most promising technology in the digital age” and that India has a “robust ecosystem” due to its vast data. and competitive advantage for AI”.
