Intanon took a strong 11-5 lead till the first break. Sindhu could only score two points during this period. Thai shuttler Intanon made good use of corners and dip shots to reach the semi-finals of the BWF Super 500 tournament. Notably, it was Sindhu’s fifth consecutive loss against 2013 world champion Intanon and her ninth overall loss in 13 matches.
Sen also had to face defeat
Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen lost his quarterfinal match 16-21, 21-12, 14-21 to world number four Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in an hour and two minutes. The Indian shuttler, ranked ninth in the world, secured the first game but bounced back to level in the second game. In the third game both the players took part. However, 32-year-old Chen used his experience to take on 20-year-old Sen and make it to the semi-finals. This was the second consecutive defeat against Lakshya Chen in as many matches. He lost to Chou Tien Chen 21-19, 13-21, 21-17 in the group stage match of the Thomas Cup last month.
