Match tied then Harmanpreet Kaur got angry on umpiring
took out heart’s anger
New Delhi. Indian women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Saturday criticized the umpiring during the third ODI against Bangladesh, terming it as ‘very disappointing’. Bangladesh bundled out India for the same score in 49.3 overs after scoring 225 for four in the last match of the three-ODI series.
While chasing the target, the Indian team was in a good position at one stage scoring 191 runs for four wickets but after that the team lost the last six wickets within 34 runs. Harmanpreet told the broadcasters after the match, “We got to learn a lot from this series. Apart from cricket, I am surprised by the kind of umpiring done. I think we will have to come prepared for these (poor umpiring) kind of things on the next tour of Bangladesh.
India’s last pair of Jemimah Rodrigues (33 not out) and Meghna Singh (six) took the team close to victory, but a controversial catch behind the wicket against Meghna ended in a draw. Both Jemima and Meghna looked unhappy with the decision of this catch. The Indian captain criticized on-field umpires Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Tanveer Ahmed. Both these umpires are local.
Harmanpreet said, “They (Bangladesh) batted really well, batted according to the situation. He was stealing runs by running. We controlled the game very well when we were batting, but as I mentioned earlier, very poor umpiring changed the course of the match.
“We are really disappointed with some of the decisions given by the umpires,” he said. The Indian captain had hit his stumps in frustration after being given out lbw for 14 off Nahida Akhtar.
