New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said that the Indian team led by Virat Kohli has a strong chance of winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Inzamam said India has a “higher chance” of lifting the trophy due to the conditions in the UAE and Oman. He said that in any tournament it cannot be said with certainty that a particular team will win. It all depends on how much chance they have of winning it. In my opinion, India has more chances than any other team to win this tournament, especially in such conditions. They also have T20 players.
India is originally the host of this edition of the World Cup, but due to the coronavirus pandemic situation in India, the tournament is being played in UAE and Oman. India have shown their mettle by going into the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup by comfortably winning both their warm-up matches against England and Australia. Inzamam said that while chasing 153 against Australia, India did not even need to bat Virat Kohli, indicating that they are the most dangerous team in the world in these conditions.
Inzamam-ul-Haq said on his YouTube channel, “India played their warm-up match against Australia comfortably. India is the most dangerous T20 team in the world on such pitches of the subcontinent. If we look at the 155 that he chased, he didn’t even need Virat Kohli to do that.
India will start the World Cup campaign against its arch-rivals Pakistan (India vs Pakistan) in Dubai on Sunday (24 October). Before launching India’s World Cup T20 campaign, Inzamam (who has been a part of several India-Pakistan World Cup matches in the past) said it was a ‘final before the final’.
He said, “The match between India and Pakistan in Super 12 is the final before the final. No match will be hyped like this. In the 2017 Champions Trophy too, India and Pakistan faced each other to begin and end the tournament. Both the matches between India and Pakistan felt like finals. In such a situation, the morale of the team that wins the first match between India and Pakistan will increase and 50 percent pressure will also be removed from them.
